The word fossil comes from the Latin word fossilis, meaning "dug up."
People have been finding fossils for thousands of years. In the 4th century, a well-known Chinese historian wrote of discovering "dragon bones" in Wucheng, now Sichuan Province in China.
We know fleas as those pesky, tiny insects that bother our pets. Dinosaurs also occasionally got fleas—only they were giant fleas that could grow up to about 23 mm long and had beaks the size of modern syringe needles.
Canada has a collectible quarter with a glow-in-the-dark dinosaur on it. It was released in 2012.
